Job Title: Alcohol and Drug Counselor Apprentice

Join Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor Apprentice and embark on a rewarding career in behavioral health. As a member of our Integrated Behavioral Health department, you will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to provide high-quality, culturally sensitive care to our patients.

Job Summary:

This position is designed for individuals enrolled in a formal CADC-R training program at a VGMHC-approved and contracted agency. As a CADC-R Apprentice, you will work under the supervision of a licensed provider to develop your skills and knowledge in substance use disorder counseling. You will provide individual counseling, assessment, and treatment planning, as well as facilitate transfer to higher levels of care as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide substance use disorder individual counseling
  • Assess and develop treatment plans for patients
  • Facilitate transfer to higher levels of care as needed
  • Provide relapse prevention support services and planning
  • Update medical records and clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and agency guidelines
  • Apply motivational interviewing techniques to promote engagement in treatment
  • Provide crisis intervention to patients, utilizing clinical judgment to support a safe and trauma-informed treatment environment
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Enrolled in a formal CADC-R training program at a VGMHC-approved and contracted agency
  • Ability to work under supervision and develop skills and knowledge in substance use disorder counseling
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
Working Environment:

As a CADC-R Apprentice, you will work in a well-lit, ventilated office environment with access to modern technology and equipment. You will be required to travel to multiple locations within Washington and Yamhill counties to provide services to patients.
