Medical Assistant, Laboratory Services Specialist

Job Summary:The Medical Assistant, Laboratory Services will provide excellent patient-care services in our clinical setting, taking vitals, verifying patient identity, and performing other exam room duties. This role will also draw blood from patients and donors for analysis or other specified medical purposes.
Responsibilities:- Takes patient vital signs and obtains patient intake information
- Performs clinical procedures, such as blood draws, vaccines, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, or EKGs
- Assesses patient needs and provides education and resources accordingly
- Ensures exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and ready for examinations and procedures
- Assembles equipment according to standard protocols for specified tests and procedures
- Conducts interviews with patients and donors to verify their identity to their corresponding medical labels for blood samples
- Provides patients and donors an overview and instruction of the procedures they will be conducting; answer any patient questions pertaining to instructions or procedures
- Follows all standard protocols for drawing blood from patients and donors; seek assistance from a supervisor for any complications outside of standard protocol
- Dispose of all used apparatuses in their designated receptacles
- Provide patients and donors with post blood draw instructions
- Completes ongoing/annual training for position compliance
- Performs quality control by checking daily temperatures and performing routine controls for testing at the sites
- Prepares EOM report to submit to the Laboratory Operations Manager
- High school diploma/GED required
- Medical Assistant Certification required
- Valid BLS certifications required upon hire
- One year medical assistant experience required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or (English/Arabic) preferred
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Knowledgeable about and experience with phlebotomy
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent planning and organizational ability
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner

Pay range: $32.55 per hour, depending on experience.
