Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY:
The Frozen Food Supervisor serves as the primary liaison for customers, delivering exceptional service and support. This role involves training, overseeing, scheduling, and delegating tasks to Frozen Food Clerks. The supervisor is responsible for updating signage and pricing as per merchandising directives. Maintaining optimal stock levels and inventory in the frozen food section is essential, along with minimizing out-of-stock situations. The supervisor is tasked with documenting frozen food orders and verifying order completeness upon delivery. Regular rotation of products and daily removal of expired items are crucial responsibilities. The supervisor ensures that frozen food displays are well-stocked, cleans the department area, and replenishes items in freezers for other sections. Boards received from deliveries are organized onto pallets, which are then transported to the sales floor using a pallet jack. Cardboard waste is properly disposed of in the bailer, and the ice machine is checked and filled as necessary. End displays are restocked according to guidelines, and any spills or leaks in the department are promptly cleaned.

In case of freezer malfunctions or power outages, the supervisor will oversee the removal of all items, clean the affected area, and restock products accordingly.

The supervisor may also assist as a cashier during busy periods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Frozen Food Supervisor is generally accountable for the following duties:

  • Deliver customer service in alignment with company standards and policies.
  • Train, schedule, and manage Frozen Food staff to ensure effective department operations.
  • Engage with customers to address issues related to sales, service satisfaction, or product inquiries.
  • Conduct daily inventory checks and order supplies to maintain sufficient stock levels.
  • Restock coolers, freezers, and end displays as needed.
  • Ensure the removal of expired items from shelves on a daily basis.
  • Unload deliveries and organize products on pallets or carts, utilizing pallet jacks or carts to navigate the store.
  • Maintain cleanliness in display areas and freezers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to adhere to company customer service protocols and demonstrate prior customer service experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with customers and team members.
  • Capability to work independently and follow detailed instructions.
  • Understanding of inventory management and product rotation practices.

Preferred:
Experience in a clerk role is advantageous.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:
Oversees Frozen Food Clerks and Assistant Clerks within the department.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Primarily indoors (95%) with minimal outdoor exposure (5%).

Temperature Conditions:
Freezer temperatures may reach 20°F.

CHEMICALS:
Occasional use of mild cleaning agents.

EQUIPMENT:
Utilizes hand trucks, six-wheel carts, pallet jacks, grocery carts, box cutters, cleaning tools, and communication devices.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regular lifting (1-20 lbs), occasional lifting (21-35 lbs), frequent carrying (11-20 lbs), and constant standing and walking during shifts.

Vision and Hearing:
Utilizes peripheral vision and depth perception for navigating crowded areas and engages in verbal communication with customers and staff.
