Position Overview

As a Physical Therapist, you will play a crucial role in the rehabilitation of patients facing various physical challenges. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing patients' medical histories and collaborating with healthcare professionals to understand their needs.
  • Identifying patients' functional capabilities through observation and direct communication.
  • Creating tailored treatment plans that set clear objectives and anticipated outcomes for recovery.
  • Implementing therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and utilizing specialized equipment to alleviate discomfort and enhance mobility.
  • Monitoring and documenting patient progress, adjusting treatment strategies as necessary to optimize recovery.
  • Providing education to patients and their families regarding the rehabilitation process and strategies to overcome obstacles.

Physical therapists, often referred to as PTs, assist individuals of all ages who experience functional impairments due to a variety of conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Musculoskeletal injuries such as sprains and fractures
  • Neurological disorders like stroke or cerebral palsy
  • Post-surgical recovery
  • Chronic conditions including arthritis

Utilizing a diverse range of therapeutic techniques, physical therapists aim to enhance patient mobility and reduce pain. This may involve:

  • Functional movement training with assistive devices
  • Joint mobilization and soft tissue manipulation

Each patient's care plan is uniquely designed based on their specific recovery needs. Some therapists may choose to specialize in areas such as orthopedics or geriatric care, while others focus on promoting overall wellness through fitness programs.

As a vital member of the healthcare team, physical therapists supervise assistants and collaborate with physicians and other specialists to ensure comprehensive patient care.
