The Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, organizing, and delivering occupational therapy services in compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations and standards. This role ensures that the highest quality of care is provided consistently. The occupational therapist is also tasked with maintaining precise, timely documentation and records management while collaborating effectively with various healthcare disciplines. Adherence to professional practice standards and ethical guidelines as established by the state board of occupational therapy is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Occupational/Physical Therapist Assistants by offering ongoing training and support to enhance the educational development of staff and improve patient care.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all treatments in line with clinic protocols, and prepare necessary records and reports.
  • Deliver appropriate therapeutic interventions and a comprehensive range of therapy services in response to patient referrals, ensuring safe and timely care.
  • Establish realistic and documented treatment objectives that align with the intentions of the referring medical personnel. Design and prepare written treatment plans based on patient evaluations.
  • Conduct manual exercises to enhance and sustain patient functionality. Guide, motivate, and assist patients in engaging in various physical activities, including non-manual exercises, mobility tasks, daily living activities, and the use of assistive devices such as crutches and prosthetics.
  • Document treatment, patient responses, and progress in the patient's records and/or electronic systems. Educate patients and their families on treatment protocols to be continued at home.
  • Assess, fit, and modify the patient's prosthetic and orthotic devices, recommending adjustments as necessary. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to gather additional patient information, propose modifications to treatment plans, and integrate occupational therapy with other aspects of patient care.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • A Baccalaureate or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by ACOTE.
  • A current, unrestricted license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Washington State.
