Position Summary

The role involves the development, assessment, and enhancement of inspection methodologies utilizing expertise in equipment functionalities, product architecture, and quality assurance standards. Collaborating within a team of machinists, inspectors, and management, the individual will orchestrate the inspection workflow to minimize costs and lead times by instituting inspection protocols that reduce inspection duration while delivering precise measurement outcomes during First Article, In-process AQL inspections, and supporting Lean Manufacturing Cells.
In addition to programming inspection machinery, the position entails various Quality Control/Assurance tasks, including aiding shop, receiving, and final inspections. Responsibilities also include updating master routers to ensure accurate inspection programs are aligned with the designated manufacturing processes and providing training to shop personnel on the operation of various automated inspection equipment as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement effective inspection processes for intricate components using Optical Inspection technology and software from the equipment manufacturer.
  • Assist in CMM operations and evaluations.
  • Collaborate with level II and III programmers to enhance CMM programming expertise.
  • Establish controls for Optical Equipment Programs, including tooling management and file security.
  • Support inspectors in utilizing Optical Inspection technology.
  • Conduct product inspections using Optical Inspection tools and demonstrate proficiency with basic inspection instruments, including micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, etc.
  • Comprehend and adhere to internal company protocols.
  • Facilitate training sessions to ensure relevant personnel are knowledgeable about the operations of Optical Inspection technology.
  • Oversee TCRs to guarantee that current program information is available on master routers.
  • Assist Quality Management with various tasks.
  • Support Shop, Receiving, and Final Inspection with AS9102 Reports and/or complex evaluations.
  • Provide customer assistance when necessary.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in GD&T requirements and capable of calculating True Position, Profile of Surface, and Profile of Line based on inspection findings.

Language Proficiency

  • Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to inquiries from groups of managers, customers, employees, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to engage with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, as well as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to real-world scenarios.

Reasoning Abilities

  • Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form and manage several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer and Office Skills

  • Basic proficiency in Windows and internet browsers.
  • Experience with ERP/Inventory systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Inspec (Micro-Vu Software), TM Navigator/IM Editor (Keyence Software), SULVAC-RELEX Scan (SCAN F60T Software).
  • Experience with CMM Manager (CMM Software).
  • Typing skills.
