Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Bench Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. As a Bench Operator, you will be responsible for expertly finishing metal and plastic parts, ensuring they meet our high standards and specifications. Your skill in operating deburring tools and machinery will play a critical part in maintaining the smooth operation of our production line.
Key Responsibilities- Read and interpret blueprints or job orders to understand the specifications and tolerances for each task.
- Operate deburring tools and equipment, such as grinders, files, and sanders, to remove burrs, sharp edges, or excess material from machined or fabricated parts.
- Set up and adjust bench equipment and workstations to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Inspect parts for conformity to specifications using visual inspection or measurement tools like calipers and micrometers.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and prevent contamination of parts.
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols while performing deburring tasks.
- Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Use hand tools and power tools to perform deburring operations with precision and care.
- Collaborate with the quality department to ensure that finished parts meet the required quality standards.
- Document and maintain records of completed work for traceability and quality control purposes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize deburring processes and techniques.
- Assist in training new operators on proper deburring techniques and safety practices.
- Manage time effectively to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding any issues or concerns that may arise during the process.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in bench and deburr operations or metalworking.
- Proficiency with deburring tools and equipment.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Basic understanding of metallurgy.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods.
- Capacity to lift and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Basic mathematical skills for measuring and inspecting parts.
- Experience with inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Knowledge of safety standards and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work overtime and/or shift work as needed.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
