Hampshire College is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Campus Safety Assistant to join our team. As a key member of the Campus Safety and Wellbeing department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities- Support the day-to-day operations of the College on assigned shifts, maintaining a presence on campus properties 24/7.
- Provide routine services and resources to students, faculty, staff, and visitors, including access management, after-hours property checks, and first responder calls.
- Respond to behavioral health needs, such as disturbances, noise complaints, and trespassing incidents, using a Community Response Model.
- Collaborate with department colleagues, including residence life and student engagement, health and counseling services, and other campus partners.
- Contribute to campus-wide educational initiatives and divisional-wide projects, advancing the College's commitment to creating a vibrant, welcoming, and safe community.
- Knowledge of state, local, and federal laws related to college campus safety.
- Understanding of security on college campuses, including card access, crime prevention by environmental design, and general safety practices.
- Experience with crisis intervention, report writing, and field training.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain a high level of ethics and code of conduct.
- Passionate about working in an organization that values equity, inclusion, and antiracism.
- Four-year college degree.
- Experience in Community Response Model for campus safety and wellbeing operations.
