Job Overview

A Healthcare Assistant is responsible for delivering care to patients in a clinical environment. This role includes supporting individuals with both immediate and ongoing health concerns.

Role Responsibilities

The Healthcare Assistant operates under the guidance and licensure of a Physician or Advanced Practice Clinician within the healthcare facility.

Position Details

Benefits Eligible: Yes

Work Schedule: 36 hours/week, Full Time. The clinic operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The schedule consists of 4 days per week for 9 hours each day. Days off will be determined upon hiring.

Location: South Jordan WorkMed

Additional Information: The selected candidate will engage in patient care and may also assist at the front desk as required. There is an on-call rotation approximately one night every two weeks and one weekend every 6-8 weeks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform basic administrative tasks, including:
    Gathering necessary documents and supplies.
    Utilizing computer applications effectively in the office.
    Coordinating and monitoring appointments, admissions, tests, treatments, and procedures.
    Maintaining medical records and other relevant information.
    Managing inventory of supplies and ensuring availability for patient care.
  • Conduct business and financial duties, such as:
    Assigning procedural and diagnostic codes under provider direction.
    Handling pre-authorizations and referrals as per insurer requirements.
    Facilitating timely billing through accurate documentation.
  • Execute clinical functions within established care standards, including:
    Prioritizing patient needs based on communication methods.
    Recognizing and responding to emergency situations appropriately.
    Preparing and maintaining examination and treatment areas.
    Completing the intake process as directed by healthcare providers.
    Administering screening tests as required.
    Assisting providers with examinations and treatments.
    Providing patient education as needed.
    Reporting significant changes in patient conditions to the Physician.
    Ensuring timely follow-through on pharmacy refills and lab results.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers, to be obtained prior to starting.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
  • One year of Medical Assistant experience or a current RN/LPN license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current national MA certification from recognized organizations.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to see and read information, labels, and assess patient needs. Frequent communication with patients and staff requiring verbal and auditory skills. Manual dexterity for handling equipment and frequent computer use. Capability to lift and transfer patients, as well as retrieve and carry supplies. Ability to navigate busy environments and stand for extended periods.
