Job Overview
A Clinical Support Specialist is responsible for delivering patient care in a clinical environment. This role involves assisting patients with both urgent and ongoing health concerns.
Work Schedule: Tuesday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. No weekends or holidays. The position includes responsibilities at both the reception area and clinical support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute administrative and patient care duties in alignment with established protocols and practices.
- Effectively communicate within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Welcome and prepare patients for their appointments while fostering a supportive atmosphere.
- Address patient needs, coordinate care, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Ensure patient safety and confidentiality by adhering to privacy regulations.
- Collect and document patient information, including vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
- Demonstrate proficiency in examination and treatment room procedures.
- May perform blood draws and prepare samples for laboratory testing.
- Conduct routine tests as requested by healthcare providers.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and diagnostic tests as necessary.
- Communicate test results and care plans to patients as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and equipment.
- Administer prescribed medications and vaccinations through various methods.
- Report any non-standard issues to the practice manager or healthcare providers.
- Complete safety checklists and quality control measures as required.
- Exhibit sound judgment and composure in emergency situations.
- Uphold the mission and values of Intermountain Healthcare and adhere to service standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current BLS Certification required upon hire or within 60 days.
- At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant, including phlebotomy.
- Successful completion of initial onboarding and annual training.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Completion of a National Certification Exam for Medical Assistants.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to see and read information, assess patient needs, and operate medical equipment.
- Frequent communication with patients and healthcare providers.
