Job Overview

A Clinical Support Specialist is responsible for delivering patient care in a clinical environment. This role involves assisting patients with both urgent and ongoing health concerns.

Work Schedule: Tuesday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. No weekends or holidays. The position includes responsibilities at both the reception area and clinical support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute administrative and patient care duties in alignment with established protocols and practices.
  • Effectively communicate within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Welcome and prepare patients for their appointments while fostering a supportive atmosphere.
  • Address patient needs, coordinate care, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ensure patient safety and confidentiality by adhering to privacy regulations.
  • Collect and document patient information, including vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in examination and treatment room procedures.
  • May perform blood draws and prepare samples for laboratory testing.
  • Conduct routine tests as requested by healthcare providers.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and diagnostic tests as necessary.
  • Communicate test results and care plans to patients as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and equipment.
  • Administer prescribed medications and vaccinations through various methods.
  • Report any non-standard issues to the practice manager or healthcare providers.
  • Complete safety checklists and quality control measures as required.
  • Exhibit sound judgment and composure in emergency situations.
  • Uphold the mission and values of Intermountain Healthcare and adhere to service standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current BLS Certification required upon hire or within 60 days.
  • At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant, including phlebotomy.
  • Successful completion of initial onboarding and annual training.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Completion of a National Certification Exam for Medical Assistants.

Physical Requirements:
