Position Overview:

The Customs Trade Agent is responsible for managing the necessary documentation required by US Customs and Government Agencies for the importation of goods into the United States on behalf of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate classification of goods for customs clearance utilizing databases, standard operating procedures, tariff guides, and other resources.
  • Perform data entry and manage various import-related documents for submission to US Customs, including limited interactions with Participating Government Agencies (PGAs).
  • Maintain and update all shipment documentation to comply with record-keeping regulations.
  • Adhere to all international import regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and departments to provide high-quality service to clients.
  • Process agency brokerage shipments efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental and organizational policies.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned.

Training: Comprehensive paid training will be provided.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • No prior industry experience is necessary.
  • No previous work experience is required.
  • Experience in data entry and keyboarding is essential.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment (including phone, fax, photocopier, printer, and scanner) is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Able to manage a high volume of work and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capability to utilize multiple systems and reference materials while interacting with staff and management at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in meeting deadlines while working independently with minimal oversight is preferred. This role requires strong computer skills, data entry proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
