Job Summary

The Operations & Facilities Management Department at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician III to join their team. As a key member of the department, this individual will be responsible for providing maintenance and repair services for the university's facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as primary building services contact for assigned areas, prioritizing work and making an initial assessment of conditions and service needs.
  • Plan and complete general maintenance repairs, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Assist with the preparation of vacant units for new tenants.
  • Estimate labor time, requisition materials, and request assistance from other maintenance staff as needed.
  • Monitor outside service schedules and equipment installation by outside contractors.
  • Interface with customers to schedule and coordinate any interruptions in service.
Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to dust, dirt, and other hazardous materials. The individual must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights. A Class E (MO) or Class D (IL) driver's license is required for this position.

Requirements:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance trade function. Relevant certifications, such as HVAC or electrical, are a plus. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
