Position Overview: The Chief Museum Security Officer is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and support to the Museum Guard personnel during weekends and evenings when other administrative staff are unavailable. This role acts as the primary contact for the Museum during these times.

Essential Qualifications: Proven experience in customer service with a passion for public engagement.
Strong employment history demonstrating reliability and excellent attendance.
Preferred candidates will have 2-5 years of supervisory experience in a customer-focused environment, with a strong desire to lead a team during dynamic exhibitions and events.
Availability for evening and weekend shifts is required.

Desirable Qualifications: Previous experience in an arts-related environment is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as building manager and supervisor for guard staff during evening and weekend shifts. Responsibilities include: A. Preparing the Museum for daily operations by opening spaces and ensuring appropriate lighting and decorum. B. Supervising and guiding Museum Guard staff during times when administrative personnel are not present. C. Coordinating with Campus Services for any building-related emergencies during off-hours.
  • Ensure the protection of artworks by: A. Observing visitor behavior to safeguard artworks. B. Enforcing museum regulations in a calm, confident, and friendly manner. C. Maintaining order in designated areas by addressing inappropriate behavior effectively. D. Serving as a deterrent to vandalism and ensuring proper decorum. E. Remaining vigilant and attentive at assigned posts.
  • Manage incident reporting by: A. Notifying supervisors of all incidents as they occur. B. Completing Incident Report Forms at the end of each shift.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by: A. Providing museum information to guests upon arrival. B. Guiding visitors to galleries, restrooms, information desks, and other points of interest.

*Duties and responsibilities may be adjusted as necessary at the discretion of management. Scheduling and shift assignments may also change based on operational needs.
