Type of Position: Part-time Regular, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Varies depending on department needs, 20-25 hours per week

Pay Range: $16.50-$20.63 based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: The Lead Guard is responsible for providing oversight, direction, and support to Museum Guard personnel during evenings and weekends when other administrative staff are unavailable. This role acts as the primary contact for museum operations during these times.

Required Qualifications: Customer service experience is essential, with a passion for public engagement.
A solid employment history demonstrating reliability and excellent attendance.
Preferred candidates will have 2-5 years of supervisory experience in a customer-focused environment, with a strong desire to lead a team during engaging exhibitions and events.
Availability for evening and weekend shifts is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in an art-related field is advantageous.

Position Details: Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Acting as the building manager and supervising guard staff during evening and weekend hours. Responsibilities include: A. Preparing the museum for daily operations by opening spaces and ensuring appropriate lighting and decorum. B. Providing supervision and guidance to Museum Guard staff during times when administrative staff are absent. C. Contacting facilities management for emergencies during off-hours.
  • Ensuring the protection of artwork through: A. Monitoring visitor behavior to safeguard artwork. B. Enforcing museum regulations in a calm and friendly manner. C. Maintaining order by addressing inappropriate conduct confidently. D. Serving as a deterrent to vandalism and ensuring proper decorum. E. Remaining vigilant and attentive at designated posts.
  • Incident reporting responsibilities include: A. Notifying supervisors of all incidents as they occur. B. Completing Incident Report Forms at the end of each shift.
  • Providing exceptional customer service by: A. Offering museum information to guests upon arrival. B. Guiding visitors to galleries, restrooms, information desks, and other points of interest.

*Duties and responsibilities may be adjusted as necessary by management, either formally or informally, and scheduling may change based on operational needs.
