Medical Support Specialist

At American Family Care Santa Clarita, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Support Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain Patient Information: Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam.
- Explain Procedures: Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients in a clear and concise manner.
- Administer Medications: Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved procedures.
- Perform Laboratory Tests: Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions.
- Respond to Lab Messages: Respond to all lab messages and call back requests in a timely manner.
- Conduct Drug Screenings: Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations.
- Immunization Management: Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with approved procedures.
- Prepare Exam Rooms: Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
- Maintain Accurate Documentation: Maintain complete and accurate documentation of patient information and medical procedures.
- Education: Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certifications: AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
