Salary Band: $51,000 - $53,550/year

Position Overview: The Facilities Assistant plays a crucial role in overseeing and participating in the comprehensive management of maintenance, operations, and security activities related to the facilities and grounds of Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School. Collaborating closely with the Facilities Manager, this position ensures the upkeep and safety of the campus through inspections and coordination of maintenance efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with third-party vendors, including landscaping and pest control services.
- Oversee janitorial staff and subcontracted teams to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Manage the facilities repair request process to address concerns promptly.
- Identify and report issues to support the development of a preventative maintenance plan.
- Troubleshoot and resolve routine maintenance issues, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry tasks.
- Act as a point of contact for security matters, coordinating with the Facilities Manager and Director of Operations.
- Ensure a safe environment by managing snow removal and maintaining clear walkways.
- Participate in safety team initiatives, ensuring proper signage and barriers are in place.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in school facilities or building maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Familiarity with electronic databases and software.
- Ability to operate a 10 ft. box truck.
