Clinical Pharmacist

As a key member of the healthcare team, the Pharmacist is accountable for the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of medications to patients, adhering to all applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations.
This role emphasizes the enhancement of drug therapy through the identification, resolution, and prevention of medication-related issues, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
Working autonomously yet under general supervision, the Pharmacist collaborates closely with the patient care team while ensuring compliance with established pharmacy policies and procedures.
Additionally, this position involves overseeing the work of support staff, ensuring adherence to pharmacy regulations and site-specific protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership
Guide and mentor pharmacy staff, including technicians, in following established policies and procedures, fostering accountability and professionalism.
Provide constructive feedback for performance evaluations of pharmacy personnel and other healthcare providers as necessary.
- Staffing and Competency
Coordinate the efficient delivery of pharmacy services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Review and verify medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness, supervising the work of support personnel.
Offer drug information and consultation to healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy, including potential interactions and side effects.
Monitor and resolve drug therapy-related issues, ensuring optimal patient care.
- Quality and Safety
Implement departmental policies and ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations.
Document clinical interventions and report medication errors and adverse events to improve safety standards.
- Technology
Utilize pharmacy-specific technology and troubleshoot any related issues to maintain operational efficiency.
- Education
Engage in ongoing professional development through departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education.
Eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy, with a commitment to ongoing education and training in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team are essential.
Working Conditions
This position requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, while maintaining a high level of focus and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
