About the Role

Veolia Environnement SA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Operations Manager to oversee the maintenance function of a large wastewater treatment plant and high-volume merchant sludge incineration facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance Strategies to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Manage Preventive, Predictive, and Corrective Maintenance programs for equipment, instrumentation, and controls, ensuring that machines, equipment, tooling, and other accessories are properly maintained and in top working condition.
  • Assist in diagnosing and evaluating complex equipment and process failures, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Oversee the human resource functions of assigned team, including hiring, firing, performance appraisals, coaching, and counseling.
  • Recommend and provide input for salary and job change actions, and work with HSE and training teams to ensure that all personnel receive safety and process training.
  • Implement and run CMMS and Asset Management programs, and prepare work orders and reports as required.
  • Ensure that consistent maintenance and quality assurance procedures are followed in all assigned areas and shifts, and that uniform recordkeeping is performed facility-wide.
  • Manage maintenance inventory, procurement, and cost controls, and coordinate work with operational staff and assist in capacity management.
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors, and provide leadership in achieving safety goals.
  • Proactively manage safety and environmental issues, and ensure compliance with Federal and State standards, including Hazardous Waste Disposal and Air Quality Standards.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED required; at least seven years of experience in various positions within a water/wastewater treatment environment.
  • Knowledge of methods, principles, and practices of operating, maintaining, and repairing water treatment plant equipment, instrumentation, and associated systems.
  • Experience with pumps, motors, hydraulics, compressed air, electronics, high-speed rotating equipment, and conveying equipment.
  • At least three years of Lead or Supervisory experience required, with understanding of human relations, training, performance evaluation, and health and safety.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current and pending water treatment standards, regulations, and federal, state, and local laws and codes.
  • Ability to prepare accurate, timely, effective, complete, and easily understood written communications and reports.
  • Proficiency in the care and use of all site-specific, facility-required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).
  • PC skills and knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software for preparing work-related reports, charts, graphs, and data submittal requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical/trade school or licensing (plumbing, welding, electrician, HVAC, etc.) a plus.
  • HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) Level I and II certification, and Forklift certification if required by site.
