Position Overview:

The Patient Account Representative (PAR) Level II plays a crucial role in managing patient accounts in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. This position is supervised by the Manager and Supervisor within the department, ensuring that all tasks are executed with precision and within designated timelines. The Level II representative serves as a mentor to Level I staff, offering guidance and training to navigate complex issues effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Collection Supervisor to identify and address account-related issues.
  • Exhibits the ability to manage diverse tasks while comprehending and interpreting revenue cycle procedures.
  • Possesses knowledge of relevant State and Federal regulations, including HIPAA and HCFA guidelines, ensuring compliance within the department.
  • Recognizes situations requiring supervisory input and seeks appropriate resources when necessary.
  • Adheres to departmental policies, objectives, and safety standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality and refrains from solicitation during work hours.
  • Takes initiative in performing additional tasks to support departmental needs.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in all job-related duties.
  • Maintains a clean disciplinary record as a PAR Level I.
  • Embodies the values of integrity and accountability as outlined in the KBOS constitution and Covenant Health standards.
  • Ensures compliance with departmental policies and quality assurance measures.
  • Understands payer requirements and effectively manages patient information to secure appropriate reimbursements.
  • Engages professionally with patients, colleagues, and external stakeholders using effective communication skills.
  • Completes workload accurately and consistently, achieving departmental quality audit results of 95% or higher.
  • Participates in additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor and Manager.
  • Fosters a positive work environment by promoting good public relations and supporting peers.
  • Assists in training new employees and contributes to their development.
  • Attends required training sessions and staff meetings, actively participating in discussions.
  • Demonstrates commitment to personal and professional growth through ongoing training and skill enhancement.
  • Exhibits punctuality and reliability in reporting for work and completing assigned tasks.
  • Utilizes resources efficiently, demonstrating awareness of cost and quality in decision-making.

Qualifications:

Education: A combination of formal education and relevant work experience is acceptable, typically equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to candidates with a high school diploma or GED.

Experience: A minimum of two to three years of experience in a healthcare setting is required. Proficiency in computer applications and familiarity with medical terminology, claims submission, and customer service is preferred.

Licensure: No specific licensure is required.
