Job Summary

The Sentencing Project seeks a seasoned fundraising professional to lead its development efforts as the next Development Director. This key role will be responsible for creating and implementing an annual development plan, cultivating and soliciting major donors, and managing a portfolio of foundation funders.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to raise $5.6 million in charitable contributions
- Cultivate and solicit major donors, including foundations and individual contributors
- Manage a portfolio of 50-60 major and mid-level donors, with a focus on increasing major giving
- Provide leadership and direction to the development team, including the development manager and program associate

Requirements

- At least eight years of experience in fundraising or a related field, with at least two years of management experience
- Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, fostering teamwork within the development team and a culture of philanthropy across the organization
