Position Overview:

The Senior HR Representative (Employee Relations) will operate under general supervision, delivering human resource assistance to the organization through the execution of strategic HR initiatives and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

This role will serve as a crucial business partner, concentrating primarily on employee relations matters, which include:

  • Disciplinary actions and training recommendations
  • Relationship and team-building activities
  • Mediation and investigations
  • HR process enhancement initiatives
  • HR policy development and performance improvement strategies

The selected candidate will collaborate with internal stakeholders to devise customized solutions and implement essential HR initiatives across the organization to fulfill business requirements.

Essential Functions:

The ideal candidate will work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team-focused environment, demonstrating confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment within the Human Resources department and among employees.

Regulatory Compliance and HR Policy:

Possess a comprehensive understanding of current employment laws and regulations. Ensure compliance from an employee relations perspective.

Evaluate and enhance the existing Human Resource Handbook, policies, and practices to align with industry best practices and legal requirements.

Implement, interpret, communicate, and uphold HR policies and procedures.

Employee Relations Management:

Effectively address employee relations challenges, including disciplinary actions, terminations, and recognition of exemplary performance. Oversee the investigative process for internal complaints related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other significant employment issues.

Identify and recommend employee relations practices that foster a positive employer-employee relationship and enhance employee morale and motivation.

Communicate and clarify HR policies and practices for business partners. Proactively identify tools and programs that could be introduced to improve employee retention.

Advise management on handling complex individual employee issues as well as broader organizational challenges. Provide guidance to employees seeking professional advice and, when necessary, refer them to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

Assist management in determining the necessity for and appropriate execution of corrective actions, ensuring consistency and adherence to company policies.

Performance Management Support:

Facilitate training, communicate, support, and effectively coach managers through the Performance Management process, including objective setting, coaching discussions, performance reviews, and merit evaluations.

Implement a performance improvement framework.

Special Projects:

Collaborate with the Training department to present HR content during New Employee Orientation and other developmental sessions. Lead key HR projects and provide support to the HR Director as required. Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field is highly preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in employee relations or a related field.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Knowledge Requirements:

Understanding of HR policies and procedures, employment laws, and regulations.

Familiarity with methods and techniques for organizing and implementing programs or projects.

Ability to effectively utilize personal computers and relevant software to produce correspondence, charts, spreadsheets, and other necessary documentation.
