At LanguageLine Solutions, we are looking for a skilled and professional Call Interpreter to join our team. As a Call Interpreter, you will be responsible for handling calls on demand and rendering the meaning of conversations between Spanish and English speakers.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in Spanish and English, skilled in the associated cultural dynamics, and able to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences to find ways of communicating with Limited English-speaking Persons (LEPs). They will also have excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation.

Our Call Interpreters work from home, using a dedicated personal device for business purposes. They must have access to a high-speed internet connection, a quiet space free from background noise or distraction, and be able to operate a keyboard and mouse, remain in a stationary position in front of a computer and webcam, and use a headset for prolonged periods of time.

The salary for this position is $20 per hour, with the potential for additional premium pay. This is a part-time position, with schedules including regular business hours up to two business days per week.

Job Requirements:

  1. Fluency in Spanish and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics.
  2. Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences to find ways of communicating with LEPs.
  3. Excellent listening, retention and note-taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation.
  4. Ability to concentrate, stay detached from the conversation, remain neutral and objective at all times, and remain on calls that involve sensitive subjects.
  5. Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation preferred.
  6. Must be able to adapt to any LLS technology enhancements that improve service delivery and meet client demands.
  7. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  8. Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  9. Applicants for employment in the US must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States.
  10. High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical Requirements:

  1. Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
  2. Desktop / Laptop Computers with any of the following Operating Systems: Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS.
  3. Tablets (iPadOS or Android) are acceptable.
  4. Smartphones (iOS or Android) are also acceptable.
  5. Restricted brands: Kaspersky products, Huawei hardware.
  6. High speed Internet connection for work related electronic communication.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse and remain in a stationary position in front of a computer and webcam the majority of the workday.
  2. Must use a headset for prolonged periods of time.
  3. Must be able to operate company provided software and systems to perform all aspects of the job.
  4. Must have sufficient manual dexterity to type or write.
  5. Able to lift up to 26 lbs.
  6. May be exposed to moderate noise levels.

Language Requirements:

  1. Fluency in Spanish and English.
  2. Ability to read and write the requested languages – highly preferred.
