Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our Primary Care team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and behavioral health needs.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct patient assessments, identify health risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Participate in patient education and health promotion activities to empower patients to take an active role in their healthcare.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care delivery.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
  • Active, full, current, and unrestricted licensure as a Graduate Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • One year of progressively responsible assignments and experience equivalent to the GS-05 level, which demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities that are directly related to the specific assignment and fully meets all of the performance requirements for the GS-5 LPN/LVN.
Working Conditions

This position requires visual acuity (correctable to 20/40), hearing clear distinctive speech (correctable to 20db), and manual dexterity to perform prescribed procedures/computer usage. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to wear protective clothing in isolation situations or during patient operative/invasive procedures.
