The Vocational Nursing Specialist collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to oversee a diverse group of patients in either primary or specialized healthcare environments. This role is essential in enhancing the nursing process through thorough data collection and the application of evidence-based methodologies aimed at promoting health, preventing disease, and managing both acute and chronic conditions to achieve optimal health outcomes throughout the patient's life, including end-of-life care.

Key Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
- Vocational Nursing duties in a Primary Care clinic setting, including:
- Acting as a vital member of the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) by delivering assessments and care in line with licensure and professional standards.
- Working in conjunction with PACT members to formulate comprehensive healthcare and management plans for the patient panel.
- Engaging in preventative health screenings and educational initiatives for patients in outpatient care.
- Facilitating clinic operations by measuring vital signs and ensuring timely patient room assignments.
- Monitoring, identifying, and addressing patient needs effectively.
- Administering medications, including vaccinations, and assisting in procedures related to both Primary and Specialty Care appointments.
- Conducting chart reviews, pre-visit communications, and patient education, while actively participating in team meetings and discussions.

Applicants may be considered pending completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements, but final hiring will not occur until all qualifications are met.
Basic Requirements:
- Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable.
- English Proficiency: Proficiency in basic written and spoken English is required for direct patient care roles.
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.
- Licensure: Must hold an active, unrestricted license as a Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse in a U.S. state or territory.
GS-3 Licensed Vocational Nurse:
- No additional experience beyond the basic requirements.
- A) Experience: Six months of qualifying experience as an LPN or LVN.
- B) Education: Graduation from an approved nursing program of at least 24 months duration.
- C) Education and Experience: Graduation from an approved school and one year of experience in a supervised healthcare setting.
- One year of progressively responsible experience equivalent to the GS-04 level.
- One year of progressively responsible experience equivalent to the GS-05 level.
