The Field Operations Engineer is responsible for collecting essential field data related to aerial, buried, or underground Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications cabling and associated infrastructure.

The information gathered by the Field Operations Engineer will be utilized to assist in the planning of work orders for the installation of new network cables, utility poles, hand holes, terminal cabinets, and more, or to modify existing networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately measure, document, and photograph potential telecommunications network construction sites, cable pathways, and equipment locations.
  • Travel to designated work locations as required.
  • Utilize tools such as measuring wheels, range finders, and pole sticks to obtain precise distances and field data.
  • Follow established measuring protocols set by the client.
  • Comply with safety regulations established by TrueNet and the client.
  • Report findings and notes to the appropriate design team member or manager.
  • Maintain the company vehicle (if applicable) as instructed by management or the safety team.
  • Participate in onsite meetings as directed by TrueNet or the client.
  • Engage in training sessions to enhance skills, knowledge, and performance levels.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience and understanding of OSP construction practices are essential.
  • Familiarity with OSP infrastructure, equipment, easements, right-of-way, and permit documentation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSP aerial, buried, and underground plant systems.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and complete assignments accurately and promptly.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities with strong attention to detail in a dynamic environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening and background check.
