Position Overview

The Buyer/Planner will be responsible for orchestrating the procurement and inventory management processes essential for our manufacturing operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring that materials align with customer demands and production forecasts.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and manage requests for proposals, solicit bids, and negotiate terms with suppliers to align with company objectives.
  2. Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and total cost of ownership.
  3. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to enhance processes and support quality improvements.
  4. Place purchase orders, prioritize materials to meet production schedules, and resolve any logistical issues.
  5. Monitor and track purchase orders, addressing any delays or issues promptly.
  6. Utilize ERP systems to ensure material availability and support production schedules.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams during new product launches and manage supplier risk and inventory strategies.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is preferred, along with a minimum of three years of experience in procurement, planning, or inventory control. Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly SAP, is essential.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of purchasing and supply chain management practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to engage effectively with various organizational levels and represent the company to suppliers.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation and a solid grasp of manufacturing environments.
