Job Title: Roadway Specialist

Atlas is a leading civil engineering and materials testing company seeking a skilled Roadway Specialist to join our Houston, TX team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to perform roadway construction testing and inspection, document control, reporting, and assist the Engineer as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform tests in the field and laboratory for hot mix asphalt pavements.
  • Conduct complex and routine construction inspections of roadways and materials to ensure compliance with construction contract specifications.
  • Assist the Project Manager or Project Engineer as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of experience in highway hot-mix construction inspection.
  • Experience reading and comprehending plans, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience working with material testing asphalt pavements.
  • Proven history of working well with contractors and owners to accomplish construction tasks.
  • Proficient in providing work zone traffic control and ensuring a safe work zone.
  • Experience providing contract administration and field reporting.
  • Proficient communication with PM, staff, contractor, and other stakeholders.

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficient at using Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets and knowledge of PDF software such as Bluebeam or Adobe.
  • Must have Level 1B Certification.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work day or night shifts.
  • Must be willing to work weekends.
  • Must be willing to transition from field testing and inspection duties to laboratory testing responsibilities as needed.
  • Must be willing to work "off hours" when needed and up to 60 hours per week as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
