Job Summary

This role involves maintaining contract assets, primarily guardrails, as well as other infrastructure assets such as roadways, bridges, fences, and signs, per specifications and as directed by the supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair guardrails and operate relevant equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks on roadways and other surfaces, including filling potholes, replacing striping, and installing and replacing reflectors.
  • Maintain the appearance and functionality of roadway signs, fencing, and roadway lighting through repair or replacement using hand or power tools when necessary.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of highways and medians by removing and disposing of litter and debris.
  • Transport crew and equipment to work sites, operating large trucks and specialized motor vehicles and trailers.
  • Contribute to a diverse, inclusive, and fair work environment, free from discrimination, bullying, and harassment.
  • Carry out all duties in line with Company policies and procedures as amended from time to time.
  • Repair and maintain the functionality of slopes, berms, culverts, drains, and other infrastructure features using shovels and other hand or power tools and equipment.
  • Control vegetation appearance and growth using lawn mowing equipment, hand or power trimmers, and chemical sprayers and other methods.
  • Create safe traffic control zones by setting up and removing traffic control devices, including cones, message/arrow boards, temporary signage, and other equipment.
  • Work at heights in bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders, and aerial platforms lifts.
  • Maintain and repair bridge structures.
  • Transport crew and equipment to work sites, operating pickup trucks and specialized motor vehicles.
  • Be available and accessible for emergency response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record to drive a company vehicle.
  • Commercial driver's license (CDL) Class A (preferred).

CDL, DOT certifications, electrical and welding certifications (highly desirable).

Must be able to complete National Incident Management System (NIMS) training, Basic and Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control Training, and other mandatory trainings within the first month of hire.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely exposed to traffic and outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, fume or airborne particles, and frequent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be more than moderate on occasion.

The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk on a wide range of surfaces, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Use manual and powered pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and electric powered tools and equipment.

Ability to pass fit test for respirator as required.

Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
