Position Overview


The Old Colony YMCA is actively searching for a part-time Pediatric Rehabilitation Specialist who is enthusiastic, adaptable in scheduling to accommodate after-school and weekend hours, and is dedicated to positively impacting the lives of children and their families in the Southeastern Massachusetts region.

The Pediatric Rehabilitation Specialist will deliver services within our home-based therapeutic care program to individual youth facing mental health and occupational challenges, along with their families, referred by relevant health authorities.

This role involves working under the supervision of the Program Director while also collaborating effectively as part of a home-based team.

The responsibilities include conducting occupational therapy assessments and re-assessments, evaluating both prior and current functional levels, establishing personalized objectives, and providing direct therapeutic interventions in various settings such as homes, offices, and community environments. This also encompasses family education, treatment plan progression, implementation of suitable interventions, and recommendations for discharge in line with professional standards.

Additionally, the Pediatric Rehabilitation Specialist will document the child's progress through appropriate written records, including evaluation reports, progress notes, and educational documentation. The role also entails consultation and collaboration with children, parents/caregivers, inter-agency and external agency healthcare providers, caseworkers, clinicians, and other members of the child's multidisciplinary healthcare team.


Qualifications

*Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program and initial certification from the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy.

*Current licensure in Massachusetts from the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.

*Registration with the State Board of Registration in Allied Health Professionals.

*A minimum of two years of experience as an occupational therapist working with adolescents or children, ideally within educational or pediatric practice environments.

*Possession of a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and a legally registered and insured vehicle for work-related travel. Mileage reimbursement is available.

*Proficiency in computer and data entry skills to maintain current case records in an electronic health record system, adhering to state and local regulations.

*Strong oral and written communication skills for effective interactions with youth, families, and colleagues.

*Physical capability to sit, walk, stand, bend, and navigate stairs as required throughout the workday.
