Square Inc. is a company driven by the mission of economic empowerment, comprised of various teams that work collaboratively to support our corporate objectives. Our foundational teams — including People, Finance, Legal, Hardware, Information Security, and Engineering — provide essential guidance and support across business units and global operations. We believe that diverse perspectives lead to innovative solutions, and we invite you to contribute yours.

The Head of Product for Financial Business Systems will oversee the Product organization responsible for financial technology solutions within Square Inc. This includes key areas such as Finance and Strategy, Controllership, Tax, Reconciliation, Treasury, and Procurement. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with senior stakeholders across Finance and various Business Units to identify and define the requirements necessary for transforming our financial systems to support our growth trajectory. A critical aspect of this position involves pinpointing automation opportunities by enhancing our financial data platforms to enable advanced AI and automation capabilities.

Key objectives include automating the monthly closing process, developing new data products that deliver high-quality data to our Finance and Strategy team promptly, and streamlining reconciliation processes across multiple Business Units to enhance overall General Ledger health. This role operates in a dynamic, high-growth environment characterized by tight deadlines and competing priorities, necessitating collaboration across functional teams to identify dependencies and mitigate risks.

Success in this position will demand innovative thinking to re-envision future processes that will facilitate scalability through automation. The scope of this role encompasses a variety of financial planning requirements aimed at enhancing or establishing operational processes and automating critical steps.

Additionally, this role will serve as a leader within our Product function, contributing to the maturation of Square Inc.'s Product model. Responsibilities include defining and managing success metrics, establishing objectives and key results (OKRs), roadmap development and execution, and mentoring junior Product Managers.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Engage with stakeholders across multiple Business Units, Finance, Controllership, Tax, Treasury, Procurement, Engineering, and integration partner teams to deliver technology solutions that align with business needs.
  2. Advocate for the business perspective when collaborating with other Product and Engineering teams, including integration partners.
  3. Provide valuable insights into planning system requirements based on your experience, process knowledge, and vision for the future.
  4. Participate in internal initiatives aimed at enhancing planning, reporting, analytics, and technical aspects of finance business processes.
  5. Communicate roadmaps and associated metrics to the broader leadership team on a quarterly basis.
  6. Address complex issues where analysis of situations or data necessitates an Enterprise Architecture mindset, alongside a deep understanding of industry standards and our organizational objectives.
  7. Contribute to corporate development projects by offering guidance on mergers and acquisitions.
  8. Lead, develop, and expand a team of skilled product management professionals while fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  9. Collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer, Chief Privacy Officer, and Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance to ensure that privacy, regulatory, and security requirements are integrated into all financial products and roadmaps.

Your Qualifications:

  1. 15+ years of proven experience leading Product teams to deliver secure, mission-critical software, platform migrations, and data solutions in a highly regulated environment.
  2. Experience managing a product team that has collaborated with engineering to implement financial transformations for large multinational corporations is essential.
  3. 10+ years of operational experience in overseeing finance business processes, with an expert-level understanding of the finance domain, including Accounting, Tax, Treasury, and Procurement.
  4. Ability to comprehend complex business intentions, identify gaps between current and desired future states, translate business requirements into necessary system functionalities, and determine optimal paths to meet evolving business needs while considering delivery timelines and trade-offs.
  5. 7+ years of experience in formulating strategies and launching data platform product capabilities.
  6. Experience within large-scale global organizations utilizing extensive ERP systems.
