Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Animal Care Technician to join our team at Northwestern University's Center for Comparative Medicine. As an Animal Care Technician, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to our animal subjects, ensuring their health and well-being, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and sterilize cages, equipment, and supplies, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Prepare and administer food and water to animals, and monitor their health and behavior.
  • Conduct regular observations and reports of animal health and behavior, and notify supervisors of any concerns.
  • Assist with animal transfers, and maintain accurate records of animal movements and care.
  • Perform basic technical skills, including cage wash activities, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 months of experience in cage wash, husbandry, or equivalent work or educational experience.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid state driver's license if driving an animal transport van.
