Job Overview

Position Summary:
RAMP is in search of a dedicated and proactive individual who is enthusiastic about empowering persons with disabilities to achieve their personal independence. This full-time role involves direct engagement with clients to help them meet their independent living objectives while fostering connections within the community to enhance RAMP's outreach and services. Our team plays a crucial role in transforming local communities and championing the rights of individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting one-on-one meetings with clients to develop and pursue independent living objectives.
  • Building relationships within the community to facilitate support and resources.
  • Providing referrals to other organizations as needed to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
  • Staying informed about advocacy topics pertinent to individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment: This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for flexibility in work location.

Compensation: The starting salary range is $36,000 - $37,800, commensurate with experience.

Position Purpose: This role requires a solid understanding of the Independent Living philosophy and a sincere commitment to its implementation. The focus is on delivering consumer-driven services that remind clients of their capabilities, provide necessary support, and teach skills that enhance or sustain their independence.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or three years of relevant experience in a related field or personal experience with disabilities.

Essential Skills:

  • Knowledge of community resources such as transportation and housing.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and database management.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information clearly.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Personal experience with a disability is preferred.
  • A genuine desire to promote the Independent Living philosophy within the community.

Primary Duties:

  • Engage with new referrals in accordance with RAMP's guidelines and provide follow-up until needs are addressed or intake is arranged.
  • Manage an active caseload, ensuring timely completion of all documentation and development of an Independent Living Plan (ILP) tailored to client goals.
  • Facilitate referrals to community agencies or service providers to ensure clients receive appropriate support.
  • Offer encouragement and ongoing support to clients and their families.
  • Maintain awareness of advocacy issues affecting the rights of individuals with disabilities.
  • Enhance visibility within RAMP's service area to optimize coordination and opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
  • Participate in committees and networking events to ensure the disability community is represented.
  • Deliver community presentations on RAMP's mission and services, as well as the Independent Living philosophy.
  • Regularly meet with the Independent Living Director to discuss personal growth, work-related challenges, and progress towards goals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent service delivery to clients.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through training and workshops.
  • Complete timesheets and expense reports within the required timeframes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk and using a computer.
