Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient examinations, gather medical histories, and manage both acute and chronic conditions
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic assessments
  • Engage patients and their families in care and treatment discussions
  • Develop comprehensive treatment plans and maintain accurate patient records
  • Collaborate with staff, other physicians, and management to enhance care delivery
  • Initiate necessary specialty referrals
  • Provide clear and timely clinical information to the interdisciplinary team
  • Ensure accurate and timely patient documentation
  • Work with practice management to maintain compliance with billing and coding standards
  • Facilitate optimal patient access to services
  • Offer interdepartmental medical consultations as needed
  • Contribute to the development of medical protocols and standard procedures
  • Provide on-call coverage as required
  • Foster a respectful feedback culture among staff
  • Maintain professionalism and compliance with practice policies and regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Promote health education in collaboration with other healthcare professionals

Qualifications:

EDUCATION: MD or DO degree with a residency in internal medicine or family medicine recognized by ABIM or ABFM (minimum three years)

EXPERIENCE: Preferred: Clinical experience in primary care settings, either in family medicine or internal medicine

LICENSURE: Valid American Board certification in internal medicine or family medicine, Connecticut medical license, BLS certification, and DEA registration.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Proficient in applying medical principles and techniques, knowledgeable about pharmacological treatments, and capable of managing medical staff effectively while ensuring quality patient care. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess the physical and mental capabilities to perform the tasks associated with internal and family medicine practice.
