Position Summary:
The HACCP Coordinator collaborates closely with the plant management team to uphold compliance with both Foster Farms and FSIS/USDA regulations. This role involves assisting the FSQA Manager in crafting and executing the facility's food safety protocols, including HACCP, SSOP, and GMP programs. The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the regulatory documentation review process and managing the hourly FSQA documentation staff. Additionally, this position entails investigating and addressing any regulatory non-compliance issues, while driving continuous improvement through data analysis and preventative measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the FSQA Manager in the development and execution of comprehensive food safety programs, including HACCP, SSOP, and GMPs.
  • Engage with USDA/FSIS inspection personnel during in-plant evaluations.
  • Investigate and resolve all USDA/FSIS non-compliance incidents.
  • Establish regulatory KPIs and analyze trends to recommend improvements.
  • Design, implement, and sustain Statistical Process Control (SPC) programs.
  • Lead investigations into pathogen control to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Exercise authority to hold and release non-conforming products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional management to identify and implement process enhancements.
  • Develop and deliver food safety training for quality control, production, sanitation, and maintenance personnel.
  • Review upcoming regulatory changes and evaluate program compliance, suggesting necessary modifications.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor hourly FSQA documentation review staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, ideally in Food Science, Meat/Animal Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Food Processing and Quality Management.
  • Detail-oriented with strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make informed decisions regarding product quality and safety.
  • Proven leadership and managerial capabilities, with a focus on employee development.
  • Adaptable to a dynamic work environment with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with HACCP, SSOP programs, and FSIS food safety regulations is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
