Job Overview

Position Summary: The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining essential systems and components of On-Highway Trucks and related machinery. This role requires adherence to the company's mission and core values, collaboration with internal and external partners, and a commitment to continuous self-improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots engine issues under supervision.
  • Conducts repairs on engines and related equipment for trucks and trailers with guidance.
  • Utilizes computer systems and diagnostic software for engine troubleshooting and reprogramming.
  • Maintains accurate service reports, timecards, and parts requisitions.
  • Interprets information from maintenance manuals and online resources effectively.
  • Operates vehicles and equipment, ensuring compliance with licensing requirements.
  • Follows HAZMAT regulations and contamination control procedures.
  • Keeps tools and equipment in optimal condition.
  • Communicates progress and updates to supervisors and clients as necessary.
  • Works overtime when required to meet workload demands.
  • Exhibits professionalism in all interactions, including personal appearance.
  • Completes all necessary training and safety courses.
  • Adheres to safety policies and company standards consistently.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Technical training is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in on-highway truck service is required.
  • CDL – Class A or B is preferred.
  • ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck is advantageous.

Travel Requirements:

  • Limited travel may be necessary, including potential overnight stays.
  • Travel to assist other locations during peak workloads may be expected.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain the necessary tools for the job.
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.

Physical Demands:

  • Significant time spent standing and moving.
  • Frequent use of hands and manual dexterity is essential.
  • Effective communication with clients and coworkers is necessary.
  • Ability to respond to visual and auditory signals and perform visual inspections.
  • Must be capable of lifting and moving objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional kneeling, crouching, and climbing may be required.

Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily indoors around moving mechanical parts.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions when working outside.
  • May involve working in confined spaces and using safety equipment.
  • Exposure to high noise levels and bright or inadequate lighting.
  • Potential exposure to minor hazards such as cuts or burns.
