Security Specialist

Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is seeking a qualified Security Specialist to join its team in Anchorage, Alaska. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering the Personnel Security Program in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and local guidance.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the administration of the Personnel Security Program, ensuring compliance with NISPOM and local guidance.
- Work independently or with direction from the Corporate Facility Security Officer to establish and maintain Personnel Security files for all subsidiaries and joint ventures.
- Process, validate, and update master records of Industrial Security information, including personnel security clearances.
- Maintain Industrial Security personnel security clearance spreadsheets, databases, and records for accountability, reconciliation, and statistical purposes.
- Perform follow-up actions on Industrial Security issues addressed by others.
- Provide initial and refresher Industrial Security briefings and debriefings for terminating employees, as well as OPSEC and FOUO briefings for non-cleared employees.
- Ensure that employees terminating from classified contracts have been properly out-processed.
- Verify that employees performing on classified contracts meet all security requirements, including visit authorizations and other customer requirements.
- Utilize the U.S. Government software application DISS/NBIS to research employee eligibility, enter new employees' sensitive data, review notifications, generate reports, and create or receive Visit Authorization Requests (VARs).
- Process and provide assistance in the use of Electronic Application (e-APP) for processing and personnel clearances.
- Research and provide assistance on unclassified contract requirements for NAC and other background check requirements.
- Assist in preparation for and accountability for DCSA security reviews, including performing self-inspections.
- Provide general office support, including administrative tasks, establishing work standards, and implementing methods and procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Verified Bering Straits Native Corporation shareholder or descendant of a shareholder.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a Secret security clearance after hire.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following Security Disciplines: Information, Personnel, Industrial.
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience using DISS/NBIS and e-APP, working with OPM and DCSA.
- Must have completed or be able to complete the CDSE Facility Security Officer Training Course.
- Must display discretion in protecting BSNC proprietary information and confidential sensitive personal information contained in Industrial Security files.
- Two (2) years of experience working/supporting an Industrial Security program.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or similar field of study.
- Light travel required.
The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. Occasional travel may be required.
