Position Overview

Join Qualus in our Substation Protection and Control division as a Senior Protection & Control Engineer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Substation Physical Engineering, Relay Settings, and other departments to ensure cohesive design.
  • Create comprehensive engineering design packages for protective relaying and communication systems, which include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, control house layouts, wiring/connection diagrams, interconnection diagrams, relaying equipment specifications, and bill of materials.
  • Develop SCADA packages, including input/output lists (Point Data Sheets).
  • Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to drafters, engineering technicians, and junior engineers.
  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Present technical solutions confidently to key stakeholders; address technical inquiries in a knowledgeable and articulate manner.
  • Engage in client meetings and site visits to gather or provide design and engineering information.
  • Execute assignments independently with general guidance from the Manager of Engineering and/or Lead Engineer on complex projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a focus on power systems. An MS Degree in engineering may be accepted in lieu of the BS Engineering degree. International Engineering Degrees will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing complete utility substation P&C engineering design packages, including AC one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, interconnection diagrams, relaying equipment specifications, and bill of materials.
  • Possession of a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) License, with a desire to pursue a Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Experience in physical design in addition to Protection & Control (P&C) experience is advantageous.
  • A commitment to ongoing education and licensure.
