Job Overview

Position: Medical Receptionist

Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, 24 hours per week

Compensation: $17.00 per hour

Supervisor: Office Manager

Role Summary:

  • The Medical Receptionist is responsible for providing essential clerical support within a healthcare environment.
  • Key duties include welcoming clients and visitors, managing appointment scheduling both in-person and virtually, making reminder calls, collecting payments, and handling incoming calls efficiently.
  • Additional responsibilities encompass maintaining organized documentation, performing routine clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, and managing office supplies.
  • Other tasks may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of one year of full-time clerical experience or completion of a relevant training program with an internship is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary focus on managing client scheduling and check-in/check-out processes.
  • Conducting reminder calls for upcoming appointments.
  • Performing accurate data entry within an integrated electronic medical record system and providing routine information regarding clinic services.
  • Collecting and recording daily fees, including service charges and copays.
  • Reviewing documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Scanning and filing records according to established guidelines.
  • Maintaining accurate records of employee time and benefits.
  • Ensuring adherence to privacy practices and HIPAA regulations.
  • Supporting full-time office staff to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently.

Required Competencies:

  • Proficient in grammar, spelling, and punctuation to ensure accuracy in documentation.
  • Familiarity with word processing and database management software.
  • Understanding of office procedures and effective communication with staff and clients.
  • Basic arithmetic skills for fee verification.
  • Ability to operate office equipment efficiently.

  • Capability to provide information and assistance to clients and the public.
  • Ability to maintain collaborative relationships with clinical and clerical staff.
