Job Title: Survey Party Chief

Job Summary:

Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Survey Party Chief to join our team in a professional office environment. As a Survey Party Chief, you will be responsible for leading a team of surveyors in the field, ensuring the accuracy and quality of survey data, and promoting the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of surveyors in the field, providing day-to-day supervision and guidance on quality and survey methodology.
  • Provide training and mentoring to junior level employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Coordinate with contractors to provide survey services and ensure that all necessary information is gathered to properly conduct the survey in the most time-efficient manner.
  • Identify controls for property lines and make decisions regarding how to proceed with the survey.
  • Make calculations and maintain records essential to survey, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communicate with management to maximize efforts and man-hours, and ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required, associate's degree or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three or more (3+) years of experience working on a land surveying party.
  • Prior Party Chief experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction stakeout procedures and practices.
  • Familiar with field procedures for performing boundary and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys.
  • Ability to perform all aspects of data collected field fun topographic surveys, road frontage cross-section surveys, and as-built surveys.
  • Through knowledge of total station, GPS, and data collection, with the ability to adapt to new equipment and technologies.

Working Environment:

The Survey Party Chief will work in a partly indoor professional office environment, which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic. The position also requires partly outdoor work in various weather conditions, with frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones. The Survey Party Chief will be required to travel locally during the business day, with occasional out-of-the-area and overnight travel as needed.
