About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Administrative Officer to join our team at the Newark Housing Authority. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administrative services and be able to provide strategic direction and support to our organization.

Job Summary:

  • This is a senior-level role that requires a Master's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field, as well as 7 years of progressive experience in a similar position.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  • This role offers a competitive salary range of $160,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Services:
    • Oversee the operation of the business and supportive units of the Authority.
    • Develop suitable work programs and working procedures.
    • Assign tasks and instruct individuals as needed.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure Compliance and continuous performance monitoring of its programs.
    • Compile performance reports for submission to the Executive Director.
    • Appraise the adequacy and efficiency of operating systems.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for building effective communication.
    • Enhance relationships and ensure high-quality customer service.
    • Coordinate responses to public information requests.
Requirements
  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Seven (7) years of progressive senior-level experience in a Public Housing Authority or related entity.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical journals, or governmental regulations.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook.
