About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Customer Service Engineer to join our team at Oxford Instruments. As a key member of our customer support team, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to our customers in the field, ensuring that their equipment is functioning properly and that they are able to obtain the best possible results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair X-Ray Analysis equipment mounted onto Electron Microscopes, including EDS, EBSD, and WDS systems.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to customers in the field, including troubleshooting and resolving issues with equipment.
  • Perform basic "user familiarization" training at installations to ensure customers are able to operate equipment effectively.
  • Ensure that all resources allocated, including vehicles, tools, and test equipment, are maintained in good condition.
  • Communicate with customers concerning the status of repair and/or safety issues arising from work on their system, in a timely manner.
  • Establish a time-based escalation procedure to ensure customer dissatisfaction does not occur.
  • Initiate Field Service Reports for each customer visit/repair to document instrumental and/or customer problems and the resolution of those problems.
Requirements
  • Three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four-year degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry, or a degree in Electron Microscopy.
  • Experience with Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopes, SEM and TEM, is preferred but not required.
  • Formal relevant qualification, i.e. electronics-based.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and manage associated stress.
  • Ability to travel 80% of the time and be flexible with travel, including nights, weekends, and international as needed.
