We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Surgeons and Anesthesiologists: Scrub in on all types of surgical procedures, handling surgical instruments, sutures, and sponges, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
- Maintain Aseptic Technique: Ensure strict adherence to aseptic technique, joint responsibility with the circulating nurse for ensuring that all equipment and supplies are accounted for during and after the operation.
- Prepare for Surgical Procedures: Prepare for scheduled operative procedures, ensuring that necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and ready for use.
- Transport Patients: Assist in the transportation of patients to and from the operating room, verifying patient identity and assisting with lifting and positioning of patients for surgical procedures.
- Assist with Departmental Tasks: Assist with departmental tasks, such as cleaning rooms, sterilizing equipment, and restocking operating rooms with standard supplies.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited surgical technician program.
- Certification: Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists highly desirable.
- Experience: One to two years of experience as a surgical technician preferred.
