Various cohorts are available throughout the year.
The Nurse Residency Program emphasizes adult learning principles and fosters clinical and leadership skills during the transition from student nurse to professional nurse in acute care. Participating units in this training program include:
Neuroscience/ENT
The Neuroscience/ENT unit is a specialized 21-bed medical-surgical and epilepsy monitoring unit. The primary patient demographic includes individuals with neurological, neurosurgical, and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions. This unit provides specialized nursing care for patients experiencing strokes, epilepsy, brain and/or spinal cord tumors/injuries, movement disorders, laryngectomies, and tracheotomies.
Our diverse patient population creates an excellent learning environment for professional development. We employ a collaborative approach and maintain an active shared governance and practice area council. Supported by our clinical nurse supervisors and nurse educators, we offer a Neuro-specific learning environment for both initial and ongoing professional growth, with opportunities for cross-training or advancement into new critical care skills and future roles in our Neuroscience Special Care Unit and Neuro Critical Care Unit.
To be eligible for the Nurse Residency Program, applicants must submit a complete application packet, which includes:
