POSITION SUMMARY

The Supplier Quality Specialist is tasked with implementing Nature's Way supplier quality management initiatives to guarantee that suppliers and externally produced goods meet or surpass corporate quality standards and comply with applicable regulations, including 21 CFR 111, 21 CFR 210/211, and 21 CFR 117. This is accomplished through the management of supplier documentation, addressing nonconformities and out-of-specifications, conducting supplier quality assessments, fostering supplier relationships, and auditing both new and existing suppliers. The Supplier Quality Specialist also engages in departmental and cross-functional project initiatives. This role collaborates with Supply Chain to implement sourcing strategies for new suppliers, with the Quality Control Laboratory to establish specifications and conduct investigations for out-of-specification cases, and with Product Development to assist in the commercialization of new products.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Implementing processes for component and product validation, establishing and maintaining specifications for external raw materials, packaging components, bulk, and finished products.
  • Issuing notifications for supplier nonconformance and reviewing and approving corrective action responses.
  • Conducting comprehensive, precise, and timely investigations for out-of-specification (OOS) cases, making relevant disposition decisions, and ensuring appropriate corrective and preventive actions are executed.
  • Reviewing and approving supplier deviations, rework strategies, and change controls.
  • Assisting in the investigation of customer complaints.
  • Maintaining master data and documentation, including the approved supplier list, within business information systems (SAP, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), TraceGains).
  • Facilitating the supplier qualification process and executing related quality agreements.
  • Participating in supplier audits as necessary.
  • Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives for quality, compliance, and efficiency across processes, suppliers, and products.
  • Representing Quality Assurance to suppliers, customers, internal stakeholders, and on assigned projects.
  • Building collaborative relationships with Supply Chain and key suppliers to enhance quality and compliance while mitigating quality risks.
  • Monitoring supply quality performance through data analysis.
  • Maintaining cGMP documentation and records to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Complying with company GMPs and policies in production environments.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems (e.g., SAP) is preferred.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree in a science-related field; one to two years of relevant experience is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), quality assurance or quality control practices, and fundamental scientific principles in Chemistry, Biology, and Microbiology.
