Position Overview:

The Clinical Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting patient care by assisting with examinations and treatments under the guidance of a registered nurse or healthcare provider.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aids in executing treatments as directed by the healthcare provider, performing specific clinical tasks.
  • Conducts patient interviews, records vital signs, and updates patient charts accordingly. Prepares examination rooms for patient assessments.
  • Handles basic administrative tasks such as answering calls, maintaining patient records, scheduling appointments, and organizing files.
  • Manages supply inventory by ordering and restocking necessary materials, ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
  • May document patient encounters, accurately noting diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated by the provider. Transcribes orders for laboratory tests, radiology, and medications.
  • Maintains a vigilant and safe working environment.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Educational Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience of 10 years.

Experience:

  • No prior experience necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand and walk.
  • Frequently utilizes auditory and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to distinguish sounds for patient monitoring and safety alerts.
  • Involves lifting, carrying, and moving objects weighing up to 25 lbs on a frequent basis.
  • Requires frequent reaching, gripping, and data entry tasks.
  • Vision is essential for both near and far distances, including color differentiation.
  • Occasionally involves bending, kneeling, and other physical movements.
  • May require occasional lifting of patients and objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional driving may be necessary.

Required Certifications:

Candidates must hold one of the following certifications:

  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) - American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
  • Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Allied Health Association (AAH)
  • Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) - American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Association of Medical Personnel (AAMP)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
