Key Responsibilities- Adhere to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety standards.
- Precept new employees/students as needed and review clinical performance with office manager or clinical instructor/supervisor.
- Cooperate with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies.
- Prepare patients for scheduled procedures and assist in patient assessment, accurately recording history and performing basic triage procedures per policy.
- After retrieving patient condition, create nursing history and discuss recommendations for appropriate interventions with the appropriate practitioner.
- Clinical expertise and knowledge enable the individual to resolve complex patient/management/physician problems without direct supervision.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy by using the AIDET fundamentals of communication.
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families during their visit.
- Monitor and ensure accuracy of recording on patient medical records, maintaining all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
- Ensure an adequate stock of supplies and well-maintained equipment.
- Inspect area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, taking corrective action when violations occur.
- Schedule all outside patient appointments per physician order and relay accurately to patients.
- Take calls from hospitals/nursing homes and relay appropriate information to the practitioner in a timely manner.
- Assure test results are received and relayed to the patient in a timely manner.
- Complete medical orientation checklist.
- Initiate appropriate patient education.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
- Implement care appropriate to diagnosis and per physician order.
- Problem solve and coordinate clinic patient care with physician supervision.
- Demonstrate competence in performing skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise.
- Collaborate with the patient, physician, and other care team members as part of a team-based approach to overall patient care.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below-indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
- Minimum Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of professional nursing experience.
- Licensure Requirement: Must have a valid Tennessee RN license. CPR, OSHA training annually.
