Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified commercial driver to transport passengers in bus/van or car to local or distant points according to times scheduled. The ideal candidate will provide quality customer service, drive safely, and maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle.

Essential Functions
  • Provide exceptional customer service to residents, families, co-workers, and vendors.
  • Drive bus/van or car to transport residents and guests over a specified route according to assigned time schedule.
  • Transport passengers for special events and activities to local or distant points as needed.
  • Assist residents on and off the vehicle as required, and assist with loading packages on and off the bus as needed.
  • Maintain contact with residents to schedule, confirm, and adjust appointments as needed.
  • Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for resident comfort, and inspect the bus daily before departure using a pre-trip/post-trip inspection form.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in good operating order and report any problems to the supervisor.
  • Clean the interior and exterior of the bus regularly, and service the vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
  • Follow all laws and procedures for operating a commercial vehicle, and report delays or accidents to the supervisor.
  • Maintain current service records of all vehicles in the fleet, including daily inspections, routing, CHP inspections, and mileage computations.
  • Follow department safety standards, practice body mechanic techniques, and participate in campus-wide safety programs.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner, and wear PPE/safety equipment as required for the job.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High School diploma or general education (GED), or 1-3 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Class B California driver's license, including passenger endorsement, and valid medical certificate.
  • Driving record must meet approval of Front Porch insurance requirement, and enrolled in Mandatory Commercial Drivers random drug testing program.
  • California DMV Pull notice program.

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and taste or smell.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move above 50 pounds with the assistance from a co-worker and/or mechanical means.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level is usually moderate.
