We are seeking a highly skilled Health Information Management Specialist to join our team at Rush University Medical Center. As a key member of our Medical Records department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient data.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assign ICD-10-CM-PCS and/or CPT-4 diagnostic and procedure codes to patient charts with precision and attention to detail
• Abstract selected data items and enter in 3M encoder/Epic software with accuracy and attention to detail
• Complete UHDDS data abstraction as required
• Maintain a log of work performed
• Complete other assigned duties as directed by management
Requirements:
• High School (GED) required
• RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS Certification required
• Minimum 3 years experience in medical record coding required
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology required
• Proficient with computer use and software applications
• Ability to concentrate on task at hand in open distracting environment independent manner; minimizing distractions in private work-from-home space
• Ability to apply local, state, and federal coding guidelines with attention to detail
