Cloud Engineer Job Description

At Southern Research Institute, we are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud computing and be able to design, develop, and maintain cloud infrastructure and applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute cloud computing strategies by designing, developing, and managing cloud infrastructure and assets to help the organization meet its goals.
  • Develop and organize cloud systems, including servers, storage, and network infrastructure.
  • Evaluate cloud applications, hardware, and software to ensure they meet the organization's needs.
  • Work closely with IT security to monitor the company's cloud privacy and address technical issues.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure that preliminary requirements of a build are met before continuing to design and integrate the project.
  • Vet and select cloud providers and third-party services.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience designing, executing, and supporting IT cloud solutions.
  • Proven work experience as a Cloud Engineer/Architect or similar role.
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud reports to management and other IT development partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or relevant field.
  • Relevant industry certifications, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
