Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Technician provides support to the Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse in delivering patient care. This role involves assisting with non-nursing tasks, such as equipment checks and supply management, as well as routine patient care activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with non-nursing tasks, including crash cart checks and supply management.
  • Provide routine patient care, including vital signs, intake/output, and pain level assessments.
  • Transport and ambulate patients, respond to call lights, and assist with pre/post-operative care.
  • Communicate effectively with the care team, documenting information in EPIC as needed.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as ERT calls, and transport patients according to protocol.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED and completion of an approved EMT program.
  • Active State of Kentucky or National Registry EMT certification.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certification within 90 days of start date.

Working Environment:

  • Constantly works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection.
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation.

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally required to maintain a stationary position.
  • Frequently required to walk and move about, use fine motor skills, and operate equipment.
  • Constantly required to lift and move items up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
